Laparoscopy:
a type of surgery that uses a lighted camera and very small incisions to perform a variety of procedures using a minimally invasive technique. This technique can potentially offer shorter operating time and faster recovery.
Hysteroscopy:
a procedure that uses a very small camera to look inside the uterus to identify any areas of disease within the uterus and may be performed for diagnostic or therapeutic reasons.
LEEP or CONE:
a procedure that refers to excision of a portion of the cervix to remove abnormal cells and may be either diagnostic or therapeutic.
Permanent Sterilization:
also referred to as tubal ligation can refer to several different techniques that will act as permanent birth control.
Endometrial ablation:
a procedure used to provide a heat treatment to the lining of the uterus for women who have completed their child-bearing and are suffering from very heavy periods.
