Vaccines

Gardasil Vaccine

Patients between the ages of 9 and 26 should be vaccinated against human papillomavirus (HPV), a group of sexually transmitted viruses that can cause genital warts and cervical cancer. The Gardasil vaccine is the only HPV vaccine that helps protect against four types of HPV, including strains that are responsible for 70% of cervical cancer and 90% of genital warts.

Tdap Vaccine

The Tdap vaccine protects teens and adults from three serious infections caused by bacteria: tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis. Tdap is usually administered between ages 11 and 12. If you did not receive a Tdap vaccine at a young age, you should get the vaccine as soon as possible. Tdap is highly recommended for health care workers or anyone that might be in close contact with a baby under 12 months old. Pregnant women should also get the Tdap vaccine during EACH of their pregnancies to protect their baby from pertussis infection. Infants are especially at risk for life-threatening or severe complications from pertussis.
